Division R GmbH Volkswagen is working on the Touareg R Hybrid, a sport version of the renowned German SUV. The latest Touareg sport was the R50 , driven by the 5-liter V10 TDI with 350 hp, but for the next generation the best hypothesis is to use a V8 petrol to match the same hybrid system available on cousin Porsche Cayenne Hybrid .
Difficult to assess the potential commercial success of this version: in this sense a simple reuse of the complete mechanics of the Cayenne S with the V6 petrol would be easier, not to mention the same TDI Hybrid revised and corrected by the pure performance. Certainly the Touareg R has an aesthetic similar to R Golf and Scirocco R , with air intakes evident and specific details. Together hypothetical Polo R could complete the fledgling sport of home range Volkswagen, waiting, perhaps, the next generation of the Passat .
